摘要：PURPOSE:To reduce reflection on an end surface of an optical fiber withoutusing any reflective index matching agent by polishing the tip of a ferrule held whichholds an optical fiber on its axis including the optical fiber end surface and also polishingthe other end to the ferrule in a clamping member slantingly including the optical fiberend surface. CONSTITUTION:Light beams propagated in an optical fiber 1 passes throughoptical fiber end surface 21 and 22 and are made incident on an optical fiber 2. The opticalfiber end surface 21 and optical fiber end surface 22 contact each other, so there isalmost no Fresnel reflection caused here. Then, Fresnel reflection is caused by an opticalfiber end surface 23 to about 14dB, but the optical fiber end surface 23 is polishedslantingly, so the reflected light beam are never in the propagation mode of the opticalfiber 1,. REflected light beams to the optical fiber 1 are reduced greatly.
