reply v.& n. 回答; 答复。作动词时, 其后一般不直接跟名词 或代词,但可以接从句或用于reply to sb. /sth. 结构。如: 1) They did not reply to our new proposal. (建议) 2) He has not yet replied to my question.
3) She replied that she was happy to accept our invitation. reply 与answer 的区别:
1) 笼统地说,reply 用法比较正规,可翻译成“回复、 答复”; answer 用法比较广泛,可翻译成“回答、应答”, 尤其是作名词讲时。 试比较:
a. I find the answer to the question. b. Do you offer a reply to his request? 2). 作为动词,answer 是及物动词;reply 为不及物动词, 需接介词to 后再跟宾语。试比较: a. You should answer Tom’s letter.
