Unit 3 I like playing badminton

Teaching aims: 1. let the student know sports games by listening, speaking, reading and writing.

2. To describe sports games using Adverbs of

Frequency.

Teaching difficulties and importances:

Adverbs of Frequency correctly.

Teaching methods: situational Teaching , Task-based Teaching Teaching aids: Multiple-media Teaching steps: Step1:Lead-in

Warming up and greetings Qs: How are you today ?\\

What’s your favourite sport? What do you usually do after school?

Show the students a video of LinDan and LI Zhongwei and ask the questions:

Who is this ? Who is that ? What are they doing?

What sport does LinDan like doing ?

Do you like playing badminton? What sport do you like doing ? Step 2: Presentation Listen and match

First ask the students to look at three important phrases for this part. Learn the phrases.

Then ask the students to look at the pictures and then listen and match the pictures with the right person.

Then ask the students to listen to six sentences the second time and match the phrases with the three pictures.

Next ask them to listen for the third time and match the rest three phrases with the right pictures.

Pay attention to the key sentences. Step 3: Look and tick

Ask the students to look at the pictures and tick the ones which are good or bad for our health. Step 4: Play a guess game

Ask one student from each group to act one sport with gestures and the other students guess what the sport is. One student acts three sports.

Step5: Listening and speaking

1. First ask the students to listen and choose the right answers.

Then ask them to listen and decide T or F. Listen and repeat the dialogue.

At last ask the students to pay attention to the important and difficult points in the dialogue. Explain them again and pay special attention to,“ liking doing sth” and give some examples. Step 6: Practice and Consolidation Competition:

Divide the students into four groups. Each group chooses a student sit in the front to be the judge. The four students will listen to one dialogue from each group. Each group will prepare a dialogue which is based on the dialogue in the textbook but they should add more questions and answers to the dialogue.

Each group will work together and choose the best two students to act out the dialogues in no more than two minutes. The four judges will listen and give each pair a score. The four pairs will choose a number to decide the order of acting. Step7: Summary

Summarize the words and phrases, also the sentences patterns for sports learnt this lesson. Step8: Homework

work experience, personalities and abilities.

1. Know the aspects to make self-introduction 2. Learn to introduce themselves.

Teaching methods: situational Teaching , Task-based Teaching Teaching aids: Multiple-media Teaching steps: Step1: Warming up ( 5’)

Firstly, please look at the picture on the screen. What are they doing ? Please think about it and discuss. They are taking a graduation picture. What would you do after you graduate from the school ? (showing a picture) You must look for a job and have some interviews. Today we’ll study how to do an interviews. ( show pictures ) Step2 : Listening ( 10’) 1. Listening

Pre-listening: Before listening, there are four pictures on page 30. Now

please discuss what they are doing in the picture. What are they doing ?

Picture 1: They are ordering food. Picture 2: They are going to surf. Picture 3: They are having a job interview.

Picture 4: They are walking and talking. Maybe they have just finished their classes.

2. After you have listened the tape, please choose their right answer for the question: Where does their dialogue take place?

Listen to the tape again, and choose LiHong’s strong points. Show answers. Step3 : Speaking ( 10’)

4. Now here is a job interview for you. Please listen to the dialogue in Part 6. When you are listening, underline the questions about

interview.

5. Please read aloud the dialogue. Ask 2 pairs to act out the dialogue.

6. Acting out the dialogue . The teacher plays B and a student plays A. Pay attention to the questions:

1) Could you tell you me something about yourself ? 2) Have you ever done a part-time job ? 3) What are you strong points?

4) Why do you want to work for our company ?

Let the students ask and answer each question in pairs. Check 8pairs of students.

Step4 : Drill ( 5’)

7. Act out the whole dialogue.

A :Could you tell me something about yourself ?

B: I am a student at ChangSha Engineering and Technical Vocational School. I will graduate next month. I am creative and hard-working . A: OK. Have you ever done a part-time job?

B: Yes. I have worked as a part-time clothes designer assistant in a company for one year. A: What are your strong points?

B: Well, I can speak fluent English . And I have very good computer skills, especially some designing software.

A: Why do you want to work for our company ?

B: I have known your company for a long time. I think it is a great place to work.

Ask 2 pairs of students to practice the whole dialogue. Step 5: Consolidation ( 13’)

8. Alibaba Group is holding a job fair in your school. You want to find a job. Now please role play the job interview with your partner. Secretary:

Applicants are required: 1) Two year’s work experience 2) Be able to type 100 words a minute 3) Good computer skills Salesperson:

Applicants are required: 1) work on weekends 2) work under pressure

3) have strong communication skills

Supposing you are applicants who are looking a secretary job, now here is a resume for you. Resume Name: LiHong Age: 25

Job objective: secretary

Graduated from: CET Vocation School Personalities: confident and creative

Interviewer: Good morning , Miss Liu. Which job do you apply for? Interviewee: I apply for the secretary.

Interviewer: Could you tell me something about yourself?

Interviewee: I graduated from CET Vocational School. I am creative

and confident.

Interviewer: Ok. Do you have any experience in this filed ?

Interviewee: Yes, I have worked as a part-time salesperson in a company

for two years.

Interviewer: What are your strong points ?

Interviewee: Well, I can speak fluent English . And I have very good

communication skills.

Interviewer: Why do you want to work for our company ?

Interviewee: I have visited your website. I think it is an exciting place to

work.

Step 6: Summary (2’)

Today we’ve practiced listening and speaking. Now Let’s review

what we must prepare for job interview. We have to pay attention our manners. Interviewers would ask you some questions about your personal information , personalities, work experience and abilities. Step7: Homework

Your homework is to use the other advertisement in the textbook to make a dialogue.
