高英话剧《Face to Face with Hurricane Camille》
Knowing hurricane Camille would be bad and still reluctant to abandon their home ,the Koshaks are preparing for the hurricane.
料到卡米尔号飓风会来势汹涌，为了不舍弃家园，柯夏克一家准备迎战卡米尔号飓风
柯Koshak:(I am a self-employed businessman managing my own company.)
“ How great the loss it would be if the house was destroyed.
Dad ,my present house is in a better condition than my former house.
We’ll probably be as safe here as anyplace else.”
老柯:(a gruff,warmhearted expert machinist)
“Hmmm. We can batten down and ride it out.
If we see signs of danger ,we can get out before dark.”
Trying to reason out the best course of action .The men methodically prepared for the hurricane.
为了找出应付这场风灾的最佳对策。男子汉们有条不紊地做起准备工作来。
（柯，奶奶They fill bathtubs and pails.浴盆和提俑都盛满水
邻居，朋友 They check out batteries for the portable radio and flashlights.
检查手提式收音机和手电筒里的电池
老柯：He moves a small generator into the downstairs hallway, wired several light bulbs to it and prepared a connection to the refrigerator.
将一台小发电机搬到楼下门厅里.接上几个灯泡。并做好把发电机与电冰箱接通的准备。）
Rain fall steadily at afternoon ;gray clouds scudded in from the Gulf on the rising wind .
下午，雨一直下个不停.乌云随着越来越猛的暴风从海湾上空席卷而来。
（The family is eating early dinner全家用晚餐）
邻居（丈夫去了越南的妇女）:Can I and my two children sit out the storm with your family?
邻居 (准备向内陆带转移): Will u mind taking care of my dog?
柯:That's okay. No problem.
It grow dark before 7 o’clock.Wind and rain now whipped the house.
不到七点钟，天就黑了.，狂风暴雨拍打着屋子。
柯:Stay away from the windows.
At 8:30,power failed, the roar of the hurricane now is overwhelming.The house shakes.
Then the front door started to break away from its frame.
到八点半钟，电没有了，飓风的咆哮声压倒了一切，房子摇晃着，随后，前门开始从门框上脱落。
(Koshak and Charlie put their shoulders against it,but a blast of water hit the house ,flinging open the door and shoving them down the hall.柯夏克和查理用肩膀抵住，但一股水浪冲击过来,撞开了大门，把两人都掀倒在地板上)
查理（舔了舔嘴唇，对着柯夏克大喊道）：I think we’re in real trouble .That water tastes salty.
The sea had reached the house,and the water is rising by the minute!
柯（:提高嗓门大叫道）：Everybody out the back door to the cars!We ‘ll pass the
children along between us.Count them!Nine!
Oh shit!The car won’t start.It has been killed by water.
（高声喊道）Back to the house!Count the children!Count 9!
So the group settle on the stairs ,frightened,breathless and wet.
于是大家都到楼梯上歇着，个个吓得要命，气喘吁吁，浑身湿透。
邻居(紧紧抓住查理的胳膊反复念叨)：I can’t swim,I can’t swim.
查理(强作镇定地安慰道) :You won’t have to. It’s bound to end soon.
柯夏克老奶奶(伸出胳臂挽住丈夫的肩膀。把嘴凑到他的耳边说)：I love u.
老柯夏克(不像平日那样粗声粗气,扭过头来也回了一句):I love u too.
柯夏克（两手抱着头，默默地祈祷）：\"Get us through this mess,will u?”
Pop Koshak rages silently,frustrates at not being able to do anything to fight Camille.
Without reason,he drags a cedar chest and a double mattress from a
bedroom.But at the moment ,the wind tears out one wall ,and a second wall moves, wavers.
老柯夏克心中窝着一团火， 深为自己在飓风面前为力而感到懊丧。
他跑到一间卧室里去将一只杉木箱和一个双人床垫拖进了房间。
就在这时，一面墙壁被风刮倒了，另外又有一面墙壁在移动，在摇晃。
（Charlie tries to support it ,but it topples on him ,injuring his back.)
柯夏克（对父亲大声叫道）:Let’s get that mattress up!Make it a lean-to against the wind.
We can prop it up with our heads and shoulders!
In that moment ,the wind slightly diminished ,and the water stopped
rising .Then the water began receding .The main thrust of Camille had passed .The Koshaks and their friends had survived.Like many other Gulfport families ,the Koshaks quickly began reorganizing their lives.
柯夏克（情绪低落地对父母说）:I wanted u here so that we would all be together.so u could enjoy the children ,and look what happened.
老柯:Let’s not cry about what’s gone .We’ll just start all over.
老奶奶“The family came through it.When I think of that, I realize we lost nothing important.
