Making Mistakes Is a Great Way to Learn
“Mistakes are a part of being human, appreciate your mistakes for
what they are: precious life lessons that can only be learned the hard way, unless it’s a fatal mistake, which, at least others can learn from.” This saying is written by Al Franken, which illustrates that making mistakes is a great way to learn.
Making mistakes can help us learn to avoid making the same mistakes. As we know LuXun is a great and outstanding Chinese writer. When he was a child, he was late to go to school and scolded by his teacher, from then on, he carved a Chinese word—zao on his desk, and then he never missed his classes and developed a good habit of punctuality.
Making mistakes can help us learn to be a better person. I still remember in my high school, we have studied a classical Chinese passage about Return the Jade to Its ‘Owner in Good Condition （完璧归赵），Lian Po was a proud and aggressive general, he hated LinXiangru and abused him, but after he knew Lin’s good quality of tolerance and selfless, he realized his mistakes and bared his back to be threshed (负荆请罪)，then he and LinXiangru became reconciled, which was beneficial to the peace of their country.
Making mistakes can help us learn to make progress. American president Washington is well-famous. I think we all know him. During his childhood, his father sent him a new axe, and he was so excited that cut down the cherry tree in his house yard, his father was very angry, but bravely he admitted his mistakes, which was a good beginning in his whole life and helped him make great contributions to his country. In my opinion, I think we should not be afraid of making mistakes, just as Tomas Carlyle said “Do not be embarrassed by your mistakes, nothing can teach us better than our understanding of them, this is one of the best way to self-education.” So let us learn from our mistakes without the least hesitation.
