Let the classics be classics
Classics, form my point of view, are those which everybody wants to have read and nobody wants to read. What's more, classics, serving as the cornerstone of our growth, have always been exerting an overwhelming influence on ever individual's development both academically and professionally.
Firstly,if students be passionate in the classics, they can not only explore their potential but also concentrate on specific academic goals and thus make remarkable academic achievements such as scoring straight A's in regular classes and winning a full scholarship to pursue further studies, etc.
Secondly, we can learn and follow many successful examples of a great man of ancient time which promotes us to strive for excellence in career, enabling us to move from the bottom to the top of the corporate ladder. It will not only improve your mind but may as well improve your life.
Thirdly, reading classical literature should be an enjoyable and profitable exercise. What distinguishes classical books is the sense of purpose about them which surpasses the intention of their contemporaries. When we read about the ancient customs, we can't help but compare our responses to those exhibited by our ancestors. In seeing the ancient experience we learn how society has evolved.
Since most people read bestsellers printed in the past 10 years, it follows that virtually fewer and fewer people are reading the classics. Although it's unfortunate that the intellectual heritage is being forgotten we can use this to our benefit. By reading the classics to improve your mind you can give yourself an advantage.
However, should we have to convince each generation of the importance of classics? Some people voice the objection that they don't fit for reading classics simply for the reason that once they do they will feel sleepy. In addition, they hold the view that the ideas of the classics is so outdated and that it might have influence on the advanced idea.
In spite of this, The classics show that the problems of today are not new, and that a person can still be happy despite his circumstances. What's more, The classics create a longing in us for a different world, a better world.
In summary, classics can not only give us a great opportunity to widen our horizon but also inspire our spirit.
