1. Knowledge and skills

1. To learn about how we get information and how to make a newspaper.

2. Help the students to talk about the qualities needed to be a good reporter and how to conduct a good interview.

3. To develop the students' reading ability by skimming and scanning the passage. 4. To develop the students' speaking ability by talking about newspapers. 2. Process and methods

1. While doing Warming Up the teacher can lead in the topic of this unit by showing students different pictures of media.

2. During Pre-reading the teacher can get the students to discuss what qualities a good journalist should have. This helps the students get ready to read the passage.

3. While doing Reading and Comprehending, the teacher may first ask the students to skim the text quickly to get the general idea of the passage. After reading the passage carefully, students are encouraged to answer some questions and find out some detailed information.

4. To consolidate the contents of the reading passage, the students should be required to retell the passage by finishing a cloze text at the end of the class. 3. Emotion, attitude and value

1. To get the students to be aware of their future occupation. 2. To develop students' sense of cooperative learning.

Step1. Lead-in

Where can we get the news from all over the world? What kind of jobs do we need to make a newspaper? Step2. Pre-reading

Get the students to discuss: what are the qualities a good journalist needs to have? Step3. Fast reading

Read the passage as quickly as possible and finish the exercises: 1. Where did the conversation happen? Who were talking? 2. How is the text developed?

3. Get the students to think how the text is developed by listing all the questions that Zhou Yang asked.

Step4. Detailed reading Do the following tasks:

C. He must take a camera in an interview.

2. To consolidate the contents of the reading passage, the students should be required to retell the passage by filling in a cloze text.
