1. grant的基本意思是“给予”某人以某种权力或利益,其目的在于“施予恩惠”或“体现公平”,而这种权力是可以收回的,引申可表示“承认”“认可”。
2. grant通常只用作及物动词,可接名词、代词或that从句作宾语,也可接双宾语,其间接宾语有时可转换为介词to的宾语。
3. grant常用于take sth for granted结构中,意为“认为…理所当然/是必然的”或“(因为视作当然而)对…不予重视”。用于此结构时,常用it作形式宾语,而真正的宾语由that引导放在句尾。
4. grant可用于被动结构。

1. 动词grant(授予，同意)可跟双宾语。

   I shall grant him his request.
   我同意他的要求。

2. 作连接词引导从句时，granted与granting意思相同，都表示“假定”。

   Granted that he said so, he may not keep his promise.
   假定他这么说了，他也未必会守承诺。

3. take for granted是固定表达，为习惯用语，指“将...看作理所当然”，如to take nothing for granted(不把任何事物看作是理所应当的)。
